Goals of Zonta International

What are the goals of Zonta?

The goals of Zonta International are [ZI Bylaws, Article II, Objects (www.zonta.org)]

(a) to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women though service and advocacy;

(b) to work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of executives in business and the professions;

(c) to promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;

(d) to be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, to implement service programs and to provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations and the world.

What is the monetary commitment for Zontians?
Zontians support the ideals of Zonta through financial commitment.
Annual dues are $124 for each member - this includes payment for International dues, District dues and Club support; The Zontian magazine; the Amelia Earhart Fund and ZISVAW Fund. It also includes $30 member fee used for annual operational expenses of the club.
Dinner meetings - we currently pay $18 for dinner at Johnsen’s Catering
Finally, alll Zonta Club members are encouraged to support club fundraising projects and raffles which raise money for many worthwhile service contributions; to support events of other clubs, district conferences, seminars, workshops, and the biannual International Conference; and to make individual annual contributions to The Zonta International Foundation, the funding source for our international service programs.

What kind of time commitment is involved with membership?
Zonta clubs are service clubs. Each club votes on local service projects and fund raising activities. Zonta members are asked to attend monthly club and committee meetings, and participate in club projects. In addition, opportunities exist to attend one-day annual workshops, a two-day biannual conference or seminar, and a week-long biannual international convention. The monthly meetings for the Zonta Club of Quaboag Valley are generally 2 1/2 hours in length, committee meetings 1 - 1/2 hours long.

If you are serious about joining, we suggest attending a minimum of two membership meetings.  This will give you an opportunity to see the club in action and give members an opportunity to get to know you.  You should also complete a Prospective Member Questionnaire.

Zonta's International Involvement: Membership in an organization that is international in scope provides an important opportunity to provide service on an international scale, which would be rare on an individual basis. Also through Conferences, Conventions and relationships with Friendship countries, opportunity to learn about customs and traditions as well as personal friendships with Zontians from many countries, in both similar and different occupations.
